About Us
The Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) was founded in 1975 to promote professional personnel management practices throughout local government in Georgia.
An independent nonprofit organization, the GLGPA is governed by a twelve member Board of Directors elected by the membership. The GLGPA is the premier organization in Georgia for local government Human Resource professionals to learn not only remedial information, but up-to-date local government HR educational content, continuing education on current trends and events in HR, as well as legal updates affecting local government employers across the State.
Members can also work towards obtaining our absolutely unmatched professional certifications which include Certified Human Resource Manager (CHRM) and Advanced Certification in Human Resource Management (ACHRM). The Georgia Local Government Personnel Association works in conjunction with The University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG) to provide oversight, administer, and endorse the GLGPA certification program. Once members have obtained both certifications, certified members are required to continue to obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs); which are available through our continuing education courses, at each conference, and by attending our regularly scheduled roundtable meetings across the State of Georgia, whether online or in person. The GLGPA is a great place to network with and solicit help from like-minded local government Human Resource professionals that are continually dealing with the same day-to-day issues and obstacles that you are. Why reinvent the wheel when you can gain the support of hundreds of members that are happy to help at a moment's notice?
