Membership in the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) is open to any person working in a professional capacity in local government, or a quasi-governmental agency. Our members are employed in city and county governments, authorities, state agencies, regional commissions, and school systems, and include elected officials and other persons interested in public human resource or personnel administration.
The benefits of membership in the GLGPA include specialized, rigorous, and up-to-date training, education, and legal updates, exchange of ideas with fellow personnel administrators, and development of networking contacts, within the profession, which are invaluable to today's local government personnel professional.
Professional Certification
The GLGPA is a sponsor of the Certified Human Resource Manager Program (CHRM) and the Advanced Certification in Human Resource Management (ACHRM), which is administered by The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
Courses approved for credit toward these professional certifications are presented at each spring and fall conference of the GLGPA.
To be eligible to participate in the certification program, an individual must be a GLGPA member and be currently employed in local government with personnel responsibilities.
